Dubbed as Usajili, this project aims at reducing the rate of corruption that has been witnessed in the public domain, more so with the tendering process. This is the first open Beneficial Ownership Registry. The portal shall hold data on the past and existing tenders awarded for infrastructure development in counties and linking the same to the respective company awarded. The information shall be made open to public scrutiny.
This information will also be openly accessible to global partners, infomediaries and the general public. This in turn will equip them with actionable data which then can be used to hold relevant stakeholders liable.
The objective of Open Contracting is to improve transparency in companies being awarded government contracts and also the provision of adequate evidence to support legal prosecution.
